I believe in God, my Eternal Father in Heaven. I am his precious daughter. He loves me. This is not the conditional, imperfect kind of love that I felt as a child. No. He loves me perfectly. He loves me unconditionally. And I know He wept bitter tears with me. He heard my cries. I'm sure of that. I imagine that He wanted nothing more than to reach down and snatch me from harm's way.
Instead, He sent His son.
Above all else, I believe in the living Christ. He is the son of God. That means he's my BIG brother, my protector, my rock, my redeemer. He has saved me! This was not a figurative rescue, but a very literal one. His saving grace is so tangibly real. His loving sacrifice for me, his personal atonement in my behalf, has been the mightiest miracle of my life.
I know he suffered and took upon himself all of the sins of the world so that we could repent, be forgiven, and return to heaven someday. This is not all! He took upon himself our sickness, our pain, and our grief so that we would not have to carry that heavy burden ourselves. And it IS a heavy burden, I know it is. It took me years, decades really, to learn that I could give ALL my pain to him, and he would take care of it. I no longer hold the weight of the world on my shoulders. Because of him, I am healed. My pain has been replaced with joy, my fear is now peace, instead of bitterness I feel love. Yes, a mighty miracle indeed.
Jesus Christ is my shepherd. He also loves me with the perfect love that only a big brother can give. He has carried me when I was too weak to stand. He loved me when I felt no one else did. He did not judge me for my faults. He gently guided me through the dark abyss that I was trapped in. He rejoiced with me as I found the light. He sprinkled small, tender mercies along my journey. I owe him my life, my everything.
I am a humble Christian, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a Mormon. I believe it's teachings with all my heart. The gospel principals are a big part of my story of healing and forgiveness. Its truths strengthen me and motivate me to continue to learn and grow and love and serve others. I am grateful be a part of this great church.
"Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart:
and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
-- Matthew 11 : 28 - 30
